Corporate Social Responsability
Since 1962, we have been covering markets around the world with aluminium solutions manufactured to the strictest standards. We believe in a responsible approach and are committed to building a sustainable future for our society.
Our commitment is to respond to the needs of the planet, with the understanding that a successful economic strategy cannot ignore the environmental responsibilities of our activities. Our aim is to minimise our impact on the on the environment, setting new targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, renovating production facilities and investing to be more sustainable.
METRA’s continuous, high-performance research has enabled the development of ever-improving technologies for the recovery of aluminium. Its infinite recyclability meets at the same time the stringent need to protect the use of virgin raw material and the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere.
METRA has designed METRA RE.AL.E. alloys, the range of low carbon alloys produced in its own headquarters. The five main types of billets produced with these alloys contain very high percentages of recycled aluminium, with peaks of 100%. RE.AL.E alloys have been awarded the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification for both the European and UK markets, a document certifying the environmental impact of the material used (Al billets).

Starting March 2025, the polyamide bars used in METRA Building’s thermal break profiles are made from recycled material sourced through a certified and controlled process.
A transformation applied to a component that is often invisible, yet crucial for the energy efficiency of the system.
Performance remains unchanged: same workability, thermal behaviour and mechanical strength.
What changes is the origin of the material, enabling a significant reduction in fossil resource use and production-related emissions.
The extrusion process in place boasts very high standards in terms of energy savings thanks to the increasing use of natural fuels (methane).
METRA aims to further reduce GHG emissions by 2%, through a pressing programme of interventions in the current three-year period.
The installation of LED lighting, heat exchangers and inverters, and the replacement of previous generation engines are just some of the activities underway to improve environmental impact.
Investments that are based on an articulated system of best practices adopted by all METRA employees who guard their respect and goals.

The water supply for the industrial plant is obtained through extraction from authorised wells.
In order to protect water resources, it was decided to include systems and technologies to minimise consumption, such as cooling towers and closed water cycles that allow part of the process water to be reused.

METRA is certifying the Carbon Footprint analysis: a complete inventory of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions according to EN ISO 14067, which stipulates that it takes into account both aspects directly attributable to its own production, as well as indirect aspects, generated by upstream and downstream activities.
The constantly updated detail analysis allows not only to maintain a relationship of total internal transparency, but also to make a pact of transparency with the territories and populations that receive our products and with whom we plan projects to improve air quality.

METRA’s products for the building sector contribute directly to the user’s energy savings. The output, realised by the METRA Building division, in fact, is HES (High Energy Saving). A guarantee that the products boast thermal insulation standards.

METRA’s aluminium production enjoys ISO 14001 certification which demonstrates METRA’s commitment to the adoption of an effective
environmental management system to support the company’s sustainability objectives based on a guaranteed balance between environment, society and economy.
METRA is also a member of ASI, Aluminium Stewardship Initiative.
A global non-profit organisation, it certifies the standards of the aluminium industry in terms of environmental commitment and production sustainability.
EPD certification, on the other hand, certifies the consumption of resources and impacts on the environment at the various stages of a product’s life cycle.

For METRA, people and their well-being are truly at the centre. And not only because of the many environmental investments that the company has been making for a long time. People and their rights are, in fact, ratified within a Model of Organisation, Management and Control – Code of Ethics and Conduct, drafted on the guidelines of the UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights).

Finally, a zero-waste philosophy guides many of the company’s departments, which are equipped with water dispensers or fresh water fountains connected to the aqueduct network, waste sorting and electric car charging stations. Staff safety is placed at the centre. Every surface containing asbestos has been fully decontaminated.
