PROMOTED BY METRA BUILDING, WINS THE DAY AT FUTURA EXPO WITH THE AWARDING OF THE WINNERS
Brescia 3 October 2022 – A project created to bear witness, through images, to the special and valuable prerogatives of aluminium in the construction of artefacts for building and architecture. This is the “International Author’s Competition”, an important initiative promoted by METRA Building, which this year reaches its 22nd edition.
The award ceremony for the 2022 edition took place on 3 October within Futura Expo – the three-day exhibition organised at the Brixia Forum, which focuses on economics, business and sustainability aimed at building a new sustainable economic model and a better, sustainable and environmentally friendly Brescia – in which METRA also participated. At Futura Expo, METRA, a qualified player in aluminium production for over 60 years, presented the three trajectories that describe the group’s action: recycling, control and responsibility. The production and transformation of aluminium is the basis for environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
It is in this context that METRA has decided to host the award ceremonies of the “Inter-national Author’s Competition” which, in addition to celebrating the works of major importance and of particular aesthetic value, sees the winners of the best realisations attentive to current regulations in terms of energy saving, acoustic insulation, living comfort and attention to recycling. Nineteen prize-winners were selected from the seventy-two projects that passed the first selection, from Italy and eight other countries – Croatia, India, England, Iceland, Panama, the United States, Spain and Switzerland – that came to the competition and were examined by the jury
There were three award categories: restorations, conservative renovations, extensions; new constructions in the residential sector; new constructions in the tertiary sector and public buildings. The guidelines analysed by the jury were: compositional quality of architectural design, integration with the context and innovation and articulation of technical solutions.
Among the winning realisations, executed with METRA Building products, stand out:
the new glass curtain wall of Amazon’s headquarters in Milan, the Customer Center of the Porsche Experience Center Franciacorta, villas and public buildings such as The Broadway in London, and finally the art installation “Incancellabile Vittoria”, conceived by the artist Emilio Isgrò, and present on the north wall of the Metro FS Station in Brescia.
The jury of the competition is made up of professionals from the industry, but also from the worlds of business, marketing and national information. The judging criteria were assessed by METRA’s CEO Enrico Zampedri, METRA Building’s Group Sales and Marketing Director Ettore Bonetti, METRA Building’s Group R&D Technical Director Giovanni Bertucci and METRA’s Engineering & Certification Manager Andrea Mafezzoni. The university world is represented by the Politecnico di Milano lecturers Elisabetta Ginelli, full professor of Architectural Technology, Emilio Pizzi, ordinary professor of Technical Architecture and designer, accompanied by Building & Design architect Nadia Andreis. The jury is completed by professionals from the fields of marketing, communication and information: Anna Masera, deputy editor of the Giornale di Brescia, Ennio Braicovich, editor of the specialised portal ‘Guida Finestra’, and Erica Danesi, General Manager of Gruppo WISE, a marketing and integrated communication company.
